Walk As Children of Light

As believers of Christ we live in the light and everywhere we go we should let our lights shine. For we know Jesus is the light of the world. So since we abide in him and he abides in us, we have the same light.
The Word says in 1 John 1:15, “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” There is no darkness in God. And darkness in this context means no evil, no sin. But before we became Christians and gave our lives over to him, we lived in darkness. Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:8, “for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”

To walk as children of light we must not be associated with anything that lives in darkness. So that means people, things, and places. Our goal as Christians is to let our light (the Jesus in us) shine so brightly that people living in the darkness will want to come to the light.
The more Jesus we have in us the more our lights shine. Some people's light is dim. Some people claim they are living for Jesus, yet when they go out in the world they fade into the darkness. A dim light won’t lighten up a dark room.

The Word tells us in Ephesians 5:11, “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” Our job is to expose the unfruitful works of darkness through the light that shines in us. So let me clarify something right now...Jesus is the light. So if we are living in him, he will expose those living in darkness. Not us, the light exposes the darkness. So don’t take that scripture as right to go around condemning people and acting self-righteous.
Ephesians 5:12, says “It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.” So we shouldn’t be putting our mouths on people or judging them. Remember at one time we were living in darkness until one day we saw the light.
When we are truly living in the light ,our light will shine so brightly that people living in darkness will have no power but to surrender to the light and come to it. John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
People who live in the darkness hate the light. Nonbelievers hate being around Christians. The Word says in John 3:20, “All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.” A bright light in a dark room will expose everything in it. So if your light is shinning bright, the people around you living in the dark will be exposed.

God wants our lights to shine so that those living in the darkness may see our good works and give glory to our Father who is in heaven. Acts 26:18 says, “To open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God's people, who are set apart by faith in me.”

Today I encourage you to let your shine! Walk as children of light and let your light shine. Let it shine, let it shine, LET IT SHINE! Lets expose those living in darkness by seeking Christ more and more. The more we seek Christ the more our lights shine. Remember a bright light in a dark will expose everything in it.
Today’s Scripture: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
