Though we have our personal duties as Christians to serve God, we also have the duty to serve as witnesses or ambassadors for Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:20 tells us, “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
So what is the Christian Gospel or some refer as the “Good News”. The gospel or the good news is simply the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is the message of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the message of God’s love for us through sending his son to die on the cross for our sins. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
As Christians we should be witnessing to unbelievers about the forgiveness, love, and deliverance through Jesus Christ. Before Jesus ascended to heaven, he instructed his disciples to go out and be witnesses of him. In Mark 16:15-16 Jesus says, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Now thought it is our job to witness, it is God who saves. We plant the seeds and God waters them. He uses to plant the seed of Word so that it may grow inside those who we witness to and produce their salvation. . It is our job to help spread the Word. Romans 10:14 says, “But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?”
As witnesses of Christ, we should be praying that God fills us with the Holy Spirit which will equip us to spread the message in honestly and in truth. 1 John 1:3 says, “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.”
Today I encourage you to go out and witness to someone about the love and salvation of Jesus of Jesus Christ. Tell them he died on the cross for their sins, and if they repent, and confess that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior they can have eternal life. Never be ashamed of the gospel. Always share it and spread it to as many people as you can.
Today’s Scripture: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” Romans 1:16
