Commit Thy Works Unto The LORD
All of us have ambitions, goals, talents and gifts. We all have a dream or vision that God has instilled inside of us. Ultimately, we all just want to be successful. But the only true way to success is to commit our works to the Lord. The Word tells in Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” What ever your career ambitions or goals commit them to the Lord."
So what does that mean to “commit our works to the Lord”? First of all, the word “commit” means to entrust. So we must commit our works (goals, ambitions, dream, and vision) to the Lord and completely trust Him to help, lead, and guide us in our career endeavors so we can be successful and prosper.
All of us have ideas floating around in head that can make us rich and successful if we seek the Lord to find out what they are. In Proverbs 8, King Solomon tell us God will give us wisdom and “knowledge of witty inventions”.
So the business plan you have in your brain didn’t come from you! God placed that idea or plan in your head and for it to be successful you must seek Him and commit it to Him. Remember Deuteronomy 8:18 says, “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth.”
We all want the “favor of the Lord our God to rest on us and establish the work of our hands for us.” But in order to that we must give Him the glory for our favor and success. Remember God is our number one RESOURCE. Our jobs are just our SOURCES given to us by our RESOURCE (God).
The Word tells us in Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” “Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” Simply stated best, God is your boss…your true employer. It is He that hires and fires you. God can give it and He can take it away.
Today I encourage you to commit all your plans to Lord and watch Him make them successful! Remember God created us to prosper and be successful. He says in His Word if we are obedient to His commandments He will make us the “head and not the tail” the “lender and not the borrower.”
Today’s Scripture: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
