So As A Man Think It in His Heart...So Is He
King Solomon tells us in Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Our actions are reflections of the thoughts we feel in our hearts. If your mind is constantly filled with sinful things, your actions will be sinful as well. If you lust in your heart, you will commit the act of lust with your body.
So we must control the thoughts we let enter our minds. If we are not careful we will begin to speak and act out the things in our hearts -whether those things are good or bad. In Luke 6:45 says, “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”
And as Christians our thoughts and actions should ALWAYS be centered on Christ. Now that doesn’t mean we won’t have negative thoughts for time to time or even not think about things that are sinful. But Paul tells on in 2 Corinthians 10: 5 we have the power to capture our rebellious thoughts and make them obey Christ. The scripture says, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."
Today I encourage you from now on to monitor the thoughts you feel in you heart. The Word says “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it.” So sometimes no matter how hard we try to think good, positive thoughts our minds often wonder into things it shouldn't. But the Word still tells us to fix our thoughts on things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. So think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise-which is Christ!
Today’s Scripture: “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Proverbs 4:23
