Prayer: Part 3

We know what prayer is. We know how to pray. But there are two other elements to prayer. The other elements are praying in faith and praying in Jesus' name. God wants to hear our prayers. He wants us to believe that what we are praying for will come to pass. Jesus tells us in Matthew 21:22, "And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

If we are required to live by faith, then we are also required to pray in faith. Prayer requires faith. You must believe that God will hear your request and honor them as long they are aligned with his will for your life. You must pray in expectancy that what you prayed for will come to pass. You must believe in order to receive. God moves and works on our behalf according to our faith. John 5:14-15 says, “And this is the confidence which we have before Him that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”

Besides unbelief, God will not honor our prayer requests if we pray for our own selfish motives and reasons. God will not bless us with an abundance of money if he knows in our hearts we will only spend it on ourselves. James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.” Always check the motives in your heart before you pray. God only honors the humble heart-not the selfish or prideful.

The other element of prayer is praying in Jesus name.  Jesus tells us in John 14-13-14, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” If we want God to hear our prayers, we must pray in Jesus’ name. That is the stamp to get it heard! Jesus is the bridge that gets our prayers to the father.

Today I encourage you to pray in faith and believe you will receive what you prayed for. It is time out for wishful prayers. It is time for doubting if God will do it. You must pray in faith and know in your heart, in your spirit God will come through for you. God moves by our faith! And always, always, end your prayer in Jesus’ name. Pray always!
Today’s Scripture: “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7
