Many Are The Plans in Our Hearts...

Ironically, we know before God formed us in our mothers’ wombs He knew the plans he had for us, yet we still try to plan our own lives. By the time most girls turn 16 they have their entire wedding planned!
By the time I was 18, I knew my whole life story! I knew I was to graduate from college in four years, be working as a news reporter at a local news station, and be married to the man of my dreams by the time I was 30!

Hmm….let’s just say MY plans just didn’t work out that way! In Proverbs 19:21 King Solomon tells us “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.” So we can make all the plans we want, but in the end God’s plans and purpose for our lives will always prevail.
I have learned this hard truth from trying to plan my own life which caused me to make bad mistakes, decisions, and judgments.  Now I just the seek the Lord‘s plans for my life. God tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Sometimes God’s plans for our lives are the total opposite from the plans we made for our lives. But we must remember “His ways are not our ways nor is his thoughts our thoughts.” We may think we know what’s best for our lives, but many times what we think is best is way less than what we deserve.
For instance, we might pick a spouse based on the way that person makes us feel or how that person looks but God has designated a spouse especially for us. A spouse that is way better than the one we picked or could ever pick.

Today I encourage you to seek God’s plans for your life. It is okay to make plans for your life but make sure your plans line up with God’s will for your life. Never make plans without seeking God’s approval first. And never go left when God tells you to go right. Because He is right and His plans are far better than ours!
Today’s Scripture: “In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” Proverbs 16:19
