L.O.T.S (Loss of Time)
The Lord has made a promise to you. Like Abraham, he has promised to bless you beyond your wildest dreams because we know in his Word he is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”
So God has promised you something but he tells you like he told Abraham in Genesis12:1, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.” The key in those instructions is to leave your familiar place and journey into unto unknown territory. But not only do you have to leave your familiar place, you have to leave the familiar people who reside on the familiar place behind too.
Like Abraham, we follow partial instructions. We leave the familiar place, but we bring the familiar people. But God specifically told us in his instructions to leave the place and the people behind. But Abraham took his nephew Lot. And if you familiar with the story, then you know all the trouble Lot caused Abraham along the way.
And that’s exactly what happens to us when we bring some L.O.T.S (LOSS OF TIME) with us or people who cause us to lose time. Now God told us inorder for us to receive the blessing …the promise we had to leave everything behind. And I know it’s hard to leave your familiar, comfortable place and it’s even harder to leave your loves one behind…people you have strong, deep relationships with….but you have to.
But like Abraham when you bring the L.O.T.S along with you lose and waste unnecessary time. If wasn’t for Lot, Abraham would been got to his promised land. And that is the same thing with us. We could have been got the job, the husband, the house, the ministry, or whatever God promised us if we just have followed his instructions and left our L.O.T.S behind.
Because what L.O.T.S do is slow us down. Instead of focusing on the things God is requiring us to do, we have to steady stop and help them and fight their battles. Battles we would have never had to encounter if would have just followed God’s instructions in the first place and just left them behind.
So what must we do if we to receive our promised land the promises God made to us? We must separate from our L.O.T.S. So it’s time for you to separate yourself from some people in your life. So whether they are family members, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends…it’s time for you and them to go your separate ways.
You will not get to your promised land or receive your promises holding on to L.O.T.S in your life. Like Abraham told his nephew Lot in Genesis 13:9, “Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.”
It is time to say goodbye to some people in your life. I know you love them. I know you are going to miss them but if you want to receive the promises God has for you….you need to tell the L.O.T.S in your life you go your way and I will go mine.
Today I encourage you to separate yourself from the L.O.T.S in your life. They are making you lose time. It wasn’t until Abraham and Lot separated that Abraham inherited his promised land. Think about that the next you are wondering why you haven’t arrived at your promised place.
Today’s Scripture: “The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.” Genesis 13:14-15
