Welcome To Heartbreak
I locked myself up in my room for two weeks. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep….I got to the point where I couldn’t even cry anymore. My heart was broken…it felt like it had been literally ripped out of my chest.
I felt like no one understood what I was going through. I felt rejected…alone…abandoned. I couldn’t even pray for myself. That was truly my weakest moment. But I remembered even in the midst of my pain that Psalm 34:18 says “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed."
The feeling of heartbreak is one of the worst feelings we as humans can ever experience and feel. It is deeper than the immediate feelings of sadness, anger, and despair. The ending of a relationship can chip away at our self-esteem, our self-value, and our self-worth. We ask ourselves, was I not good enough? Pretty enough? Smart enough? What did I do wrong?
But many times, the truth is we didn’t do anything wrong. Sometimes we did everything right and the relationship still didn’t work out. So now the relationship is over and we have to move on. But how do we move on when our heart still wants to stay?
Many times after a breakup we are left broken, crushed, and vulnerable. We are left emotionally, mentally, and spiritually weak. And in some cases, physically weak. But that is the place where we should be seeking God earnestly. Psalm 51:17 says, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."
It is like the saying that goes that, “God will heal your heart if you give him all the pieces.” But many times we don’t seek God after heartbreak. We seek other people, we seek things, we seek places, but we don’t seek God. We fool ourselves into thinking that time will heal our broken hearts, but I can testify to you that’s a lie. The only person that can heal your broken heart is GOD. In time, God can heal all your wounds if you allow him too and give him all the pieces.
Today I encourage you to give God all the pieces to your broken heart. Heartbreak isn’t something you can get over overnight but with God you can heal and overcome it. Remember the biggest heartbreak was God watching his only begotten son, Jesus, die on the cross for our sins.
Today’s Scripture: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
